My Design Journey

In this semester, we had been assigned to repurposed a petrol station and explore with situation of COVID-19. At first, we need to chose and read an article from a website that related to the pandemic. The article that my group read is about can AI change the world. In this article, there has state that ways that AI had helps the workspace to collaborate together and the issues is creativity and innovative thinking were missed up during work from home.

Therefore, we found out some solution to help the issue which is connecting people together with social communication. By creating the social communication well, people could gain knowledge from others , release their stress by talking their hard, expanding their friend zone and etc.

So, with this solution, we explore with finding a related clients which is The Center For Connection (CFC) from Canada. It is a psychology center but their mission is differ with normal psychology center which is they helping people to discover joy and meanings in their life.

We think that psychology can help people mentally and more improve their social skills. Then, we did deep research and analyze it using SWOT, PESTEL and 5 Forces about the psychology center in Malaysia which is our site located country.

After that, we need to think about the space that we need to create and related to what we have research. As for me, I decided to focus on families as user because there are some families may have some family issues and then it might cause the person who work from home have lots of stress and might cause this person have no good inspirations and having extreme behaviors like there’s a case that happen last few months ago that I saw in news, a girl hit her grandma until died due to arguments with her grandma. So what I think is this needs to be settled from the beginning, so I choose to help families to solve their issues and let them know about balancing work and home, also the importance of being part of the family.

I decided to create a family workshop that is more fun without letting people think that they are in a psychology treatment. So, I add the treasure hunt because there’s clues needed to solve for finding a treasure so families can work together and solve them and at the same time, it can help families to bond their relationships. How this workshop will work, like when families realize they have arguments due to some issues, so they might need a little help from others to listen to their story then they can relieve themselves and more respect to their family if they receive positive advice. So, my target user is every family.

While my concept is Harmony. I want to develop more is harmony because its meaning is similar with family meanings. And my concept elements to represent harmony is tree of life because I think that the roots are families members and branches is the families development and the trunk in the middle is the center of connecting everything together. These are my sketches for the concept model. First, because I don’t know how to draw the branches and roots because they don’t have an accurate position. So, I use ink and blow it using a straw then I have these. Then, I combine it, it becomes a tree. After that, I simplified it and I found that there are many connections and there is a center that connects everything together. After that, I connect them randomly, then they become irregular polygons.

So, I develop more by using this concept elements.
