The Importance of Urban Design For Community

This project is about designing an urban design based on SDGs at the River of Life in KL. The SDG topic that I had chose to focus on is SDG12 Ensure Sustainable Consumption And Production Patterns, food production and food waste issues.

The reasons that I want to choose SDG12 rather than other SDGs is because that I haven't try this topic before and also I want to try to challenge myself but still want to be in a little bit of comfort zone in my design. Therefore, I tried this topic due to there's a food waste issues that looks comfort for me to think more about it and also challenging myself in my designs later on.

I researched that food waste issues is a serious problems too, and even myself did not achieve it. I also surprised when I found that wasting foods will harm to our world which it will producing a greenhouse gas called 'Methane', which normally we call it as global warming. Since now is pandemic period, previously there are many food business industries forced to shut down and also faced fewer customers than before, this also let the foods storage up until it spoiled. Even if there are no pandemic, there are 80% of unused parts when we preparing our meals. I think that this issues should increase awareness more even if we try to prevent it at nowadays, there's still have many tonnes of food wasted in our country.

Then, I try to think about the gaps between what we can help to prevent by using the SDG12.
