DESIGN DISRUPTION

There's a 1 hour documentary film that I had watched which called 'Design Disruptors'. It was about how designers' perspective can improve an industry business and their designs can overtaking the society. In the film, each designers had explained about the transformation of a design by looking a problem in a different ways and solving it using nowadays technology.

In this film, I learned that 'As engineers they tend to think about how can it be function using computer and systems; while designers tend to think about people, emotional state, quirks and even idiosyncrasy' 'Design is humanness not just for beautiful'. This saying has reflected what designers do are connecting the complexity of the society and bring them together with a meaningful and easily to understand products. For instance, they are many big product companies such as Google, Facebook, Spotify, Airbnb, Netflix... all these companies had their own market competition but they can survive and stand still at these marketing by using different mindset thinking. They do like steps 1 to 10, they know what their problems is by researching surrounding issues and later they know how they need to combine all those things into their design and also help society improvement.

As for the meaning of disruption, is byproduct for improvisation. As designers, we believe that what we doing is can reflected to the world; when the world changes, the things also changes. This lead me to believe that all the things we design can have a mistake but the mistake should be consequences of a perfect connection to good efforts. Therefore, the industry can improve their business also can contribute to the society.

In the film, they also said that art and design are two different things just like I mentioned in paragraph 2, the engineers and the designers tend to works on different ways. These film had taught me that designers is like a problem-solver, everything we had designed should had their meaning and answers behind. The film also state that if your designs haven't being used by anyone, it's isn't a finish. It's about designing for users and the community, these are the main connection like what Alex Castellarnau said design is like a thin layer, its like a bridge that connects complexity to meaningful.

All in all, now that I had understand the true meaning of being a designer, and how we should look our design and the ways to connect everything together. These documentary film had help me renew my mindset about being a designer, therefore this film is interesting and meaningful to watch and people can know how actually an individual designer brings connection to the community.
